Purchase and Download Your Files
First you’ll need to buy and download your cupcake topper files. If you haven’t purchased your Valentine’s day Cupcake toppers yet, you can buy them now using this link (Go ahead, I’ll wait) -> Valentine’s Day Cupcake Toppers . You should receive an email from me with a link to download your zip file.
Unzip your file
Click on the link provided and unzip your file. If you can’t find the zip file once downloaded, you should be able to find it in your Downloads Folder in File Explorer.
Once you’ve located the folder called CupcakeToppers.zip, open the folder and click Extract All located on the right side of the menu. You can select exactly which folder you want to save your files to. In my case, I created a folder called “vday cupcake toppers“.
If you bought the Valentine’s Day Toppers from my store, you get 6 different cupcake topper designs and each design comes in PNG, JPG, SVG and one full PDF sheet with all the designs.
Upload files in Cricut Design Space
Although I offer various file types to upload in my Valentine’s Day Cupcake Topper Bundle, I recommend you upload the PNG files to Cricut Design Space. You might notice that when using SVG, you sometimes get the following message: Your file includes unsupported items. For best results, use a different file type.” That’s because pattern fills such as gradients are unsupported when using SVG files in Cricut Design Space.
Click “Upload” on your left menu bar then select your PNG file you want to upload. Then, you can choose Moderately complex as your image type.
The PNG files provided already have the background removed, so at this step, you should just need to click on “Apply & Continue“.
Next, you’ll want to select “Print Then Cut Image” then click the green “Upload” button. You may add tags to your file, but it’s optional.
Repeat these few steps until you have all the cupcake toppers are loaded on Cricut Design Space.
From the Upload page, you can press” Shift + Click” all the toppers you want to include on your project then click “Add the Project“.
Laying our the toppers
You will need to resize your toppers so that they are 2 inches by using the bounding box around each image . I can fit 12 toppers on one sheet, keeping in mind that the card stock you’ll be printing on is 8.5 in x 11 inches. I lay them out in four rows of three as shown in the image below.
Expert tip: Once you have your first row layed out, select all three toppers (press Shift + Click) and you can copy (Ctrl + C), then (Ctrl + V) to paste. Drag your new row under row 1 and paste again.
Once you have all your toppers layed out as desired, you can then proceed to “Make It”.
Make It
Now you made it to the Make it space! The first screen shows you how many mats you’ll need to prepare. At this point, you just need to click “Continue”.
Then you “Send To Printer” where you can select which printer to print from. I like to toggle the “Use System Dialogue” box on so that I change my printer preferences. I like to choose the type of paper I’m printing on and where the paper will be fed from.
Note: Sometimes the printer dialogue boxes opens up under the Cricut Design Space program.
Once you’ve printed your cupcake toppers and placed it on your Light Grip cutting mat as shown by Cricut Design Space, you are ready to send them to the Cricut to cut. Follow the prompts on Cricut Design Space to load your mat, and press “C” to cut. You just need let the machine do it’s thing.
And voila! You have perfectly cut cupcake toppers.
Once your toppers are printed and cut, you’ll need to tape some toothpicks to the back of the toppers!
Now you are ready to insert your finished toppers into you cupcakes! How cute are those cupcakes
